Chiar dacă retailerii de jocuri încercau să ne sugereze încă din perioada sărbătorilor despre existența FIFA World Cup 2010, EA Sports au decis că acum este momentul să îl anunțe. Noul joc va fi lansat pe 27 aprilie și va rula pe același motor ca și FIFA 10. În plus față de jocul deja lansat, jocul a fost finisat, efectele de lumină și mișcările fiind printre cele mai realiste dintr-un astfel de joc. Jocul a fost anunțat numai pentru Xbox 360 și PlayStation 3. De asemenea, jucătorii pot alege o echipă din cele 199 de țări care au participat la calificările pentru competiția mondială.
